Shujaa has had the opportunity to participate on panels, workshops, and media events. The following includes a brief description of organizing focus.

" October 2005 : Texas Journey of Hope- 17 day march and organizing campaign to highlight the situation in Texas and to help abolish capital punishment in that state.

" 2001-2004: Works with the Campaign To End the Death Penalty. Activities include speaking at Campus forums, community programs, building network with family of prisoners on death row and with exonerated prisoners. Develop press and media contacts to support and educate about issues, specific cases.

" March, 2001: Program to support Alabama Death Penalty Project, fundraiser sponsored by the New York Legal Aid/ Death Penalty.

" Consultation with N.Y. Legal Aid/ death penalty case preparation.

" Participates in lobbying Maryland Delegates to support the moratorium bill in General Assembly, Annapolis, MD.

" Spring,2002: Program sponsored by Defender General of Vermont, Robert Appel: Wrongful Conviction: Actual innocence to Life on Death Row. Burlington, VT

" December,2002: Exploiting the Sniper Tragedy, a panel discussion with Director of ABA/Virginia Alternative to Death Penalty, ACLU,Campaign to End the Death Penalty.

" January,2003: Discussion following performance of The Exonerated, Warner Theater, Washington, DC, sponsored by the ACLU. Panel featured testimony of men freed from Death Row, with remarks by Janet Reno.

" Participation in Capital Punishment Education Project (CPEP), Street Law project. Discussion and presentations in DC High school classes to learn about the death penalty.

" November, 2003: European Social Forum, Paris, France. Speech to general assembly about Death Penalty/experiences in US prisons and Death Row.

" January, 2003: Death Penalty work shop/National Conference on Organized Resistance, American University.

" February,2003: Live from Death Row with Kevin Cooper, program with Lynne Stewart, attorney; Danny Glover, actor, activist; David Myers, Murder Victim's Families for Reconciliation, Berkeley, CA

" Intensive organizing in schools, churches, community, radio and TV to prevent the execution of Kevin Cooper, scheduled February, 10. Successful campaign stops scheduled execution of Kevin Cooper.

" February,2003: Elected to Listener Board of WPFW/Pacifica Radio, Washington, DC. Shujaa ran on platform of DC Justice and Unity, Death Row survivor,community activist.

" March,2004: Invited to South Carolina to educate,organize to prevent execution of David Clayton Hill. Events sponsored at University of South Carolina, School of Law, College of Charleston,local TV call -in programs and radio.

" April, 2004: Continues participation with DC youth in Street Law Project/ web based curriculum discussion of arguments for and against death penalty,principles and ethics of justice.

" April 13, 2004: Victims of Criminal Injustice Speak out, Police Brutality to Death Penalty, New York. Panel includes: Ossie Davis, actor/activist, Bill Perkins, NYC Councilman, Yusef Salam, wrongfully convicted.

" May 2004: Guest speaker at 3rd Annual Teen Summit on Capital Hill/sponsored by ACLU, Death Penalty Information Center/Capital Punishment Education Project

" May 2004: Vermont Social Forum, Plainfield, VT. Workshop on Death Penalty/ Live from Death Row. Key note speaker at general assembly. Sponsors: Peace & Justice Center, Women International League for Peace and Freedom, International Socialist Organization, VT American Friends Service Committee

" May 2004: Campaign to Stop Execution of Steven Oken. Programs in Takoma Park and Baltimore, MD, demonstrations and media outreach. Support to Family of Steven Oken.

" June, 2004: No More Prisons, program with Lou Plummer, Military Families Speak out, former corrections guard of 8 years and Gulf War Veteran. Both Shujaa and Lou speak about death row/ prisons and exposing international prisoner abuse, Washington, DC.

" July 2004: Boston Social Forum, Death penalty workshop, presentation at general assembly/ convocation.

" August 30, 2004: Still We Rise/ Poor people's March in NY. Election alternatives/ Panel includes Peter Camejo, Vice President candidate, St John the Divine, NY.
